While the aftermath of the midbass horn project is not over I am strategizing how I might implement Macondo’s LF section. The leading idea is to bolt a triangular shape sealed enclosure juts behind the small wall that cover the load bearing beam from...

I just was pointed out to an interesting article at 6 moons describing people built 23Hz horn.

I did not read it yet careful and look forward to read it with interest, to ana...

Ok, I will try to lower the primary impedance like you suggested, but it will be on the new 6C33C mono block amplifier that I am building. The custom made chassis will be finished by next week and I have the better components waiting to get installle...

I have been recording professionally for over 30 years...Both monophonicly and in Stereo,,,,Ambiophonics to me came closer to what i hear naturally..But decoding properly was not caught on by the general public......

Plenty of reasons why a given mono LP might sound better than a given stereo LP at a given time, and I do have some mono LPs I prefer to their stereo counterparts. Still, of my best examples of each, spanning over 60 years, the best of the best stere...

I had no chance to listen to his latest Designs (I know his L2R, LL2 preamps and the ML2.1..) but probably he wanted to realize his latest ideas (who knows) or he realized that in some parts of the world his existing units are simply too cheap compar...

Stereo is only as good as the width of your head,,,Both visual and audio...Of course locolazion diminish,s as you sit back further,, Hall ambiences will eventually take over...If you are the conductor you get a different perspective,,,And PERSPEC...

Interesting observation/question. I think some "manufacturers" at least pay attention to this idea, offering dedicated mono "versions" of their "better" cartridges. But as far as the old "classic" mono cartridges go, I think it is a fine line betwe...

[quote user="Brian Clark"]Per Winfeld confirmed to me that the coil former assembly is rotated 45% compared to the regular SPU such that only lateral motion is sensed. Unfortunately I did not think to ask him how the coil/coils was/were wound. Since ...

It has nothing on it besides “Ortofon Mono”. Perhaps if I remove it form the standard Ortofon whale-shape shell then I will be able to identify it. The manual that comes with it said: “SPU cartridges” and has the specification for the entire line up....

Do any of you, the SPU Mono users, know how the SPU MONO coils wired internally? Is it a stereo cartridge strapped mono or it is a single coil cartridge with two channels running in parallel from the same coil? Is anyhow even seen any...

OK, I managed to get to the "fully mono" experiment done pretty quickly. The single speaker made a more "compact" sound that stuck more closely to the speaker, itself, despite "increased" ambient cue "saturation".No surprise, I happen to prefer my o...

Lately, here and there, among the “advanced audio people” become very fashionable to spread bravado about themselves that they “more evolved” because they dropped the “slavery of stereophonic reproduction” and went back to mono installations. My nume...

John, I had nothing to do with Voyd or Pink Triangle, I also not a big fan of Audio Note UK.
Mono cartridges is good, in fact I feel that Mono Cartridges IS A MUST for anyone who do analog more of less serious. Defiantly a second arm is more conveni...

Too hot to expect the best sound today, and besides I have gotten my morbid curiousity worked up about the recording/playback curves, so I fished out a few LPs mostly to hear/see how they sound with respect to the "shape" of their sound, aspects of w...

OK, I will try the SPU mono. I have some questions: It comes in a headshell with SME bayonet. I really do not need it. Can I remove the cartridge and mount it on a normal “tow-holes from top” tonearm? If it is removable then what be the mass of the ...

Ok Romy thanks for advice. I will see about the loading for my shelter, and my cable to the step-up is nothing special. I am going to listen to mono only for next few weeks and see if i find the "same character of sound everywhere" syndrome! I do h...
